<p>You&#8217;ll be pleased to discover that a hectic life doesn&#8217;t mean that every meal has to be fast food on the run! Sometimes it&#8217;s difficult to make healthy changes, but with a little planning and know-how, it can be done.</p>
<p>You already know how important it is to make healthy food choices for you and your family. But how can you fit the best choices into your busy life?</p>
<p>Here are some strategies to help you and your family make healthy choices:</p>
<p>1. Make dinner time a social experience.</p>
<p>Dinner should be about enjoying your company and taking pleasure in the foods you&#8217;re eating.</p>
<p>Dinner becomes a great experience when you&#8217;re able to enjoy healthy foods together. Take time to eat as a family and enjoy a real conversation with each other. Talking will naturally slow down your eating pace, while also reconnecting you with your family members.</p>
<p>When you begin to look at mealtime as a social experience, it becomes easier to make the right choices about healthy foods. Suddenly you aren&#8217;t so worried about rushing through and making it quick.</p>
<p>2. Avoid temptation.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s so easy to walk into the store with good intent, but walk out with bags full of unhealthy foods. Unfortunately, our wills are weak, especially if we&#8217;ve trained ourselves over the years to buy junk foods.</p>
<p>* Think of healthier alternatives to your family&#8217;s favorite unhealthy foods. Rather than high calorie chips, try trail mixes or rice cakes. Low calorie puddings or frozen yogurts are better alternatives to higher fat ice creams.</p>
<p>* Never shop when you&#8217;re hungry. This way you won&#8217;t pick out unhealthy choices because they look good at the moment.</p>
<p>* Get rid of the unhealthy foods in your home. If they aren&#8217;t around, you won&#8217;t be tempted to eat them.</p>
<p>3. Eat fast and healthy meals at home.</p>
<p>When you&#8217;re tired at the end of the day and you realize you still have to feed the family, it&#8217;s easy to go to a fast food chain and throw fast food on the table. It may save some time, but it won&#8217;t save your health &#8211; or your pocket book!</p>
<p>* Look online for quick and easy recipes made with all natural ingredients. Many recipes can be made in 30 minutes or less and only have 5 ingredients. Taking the time to do some recipe research will save your sanity in the long run. Then once you find a &#8220;hit&#8221; with the family, store the recipe in a book or on your computer.</p>
<p>* The great thing is that there are many easy, fast, and healthy foods you can make at home. This takes some planning, but you&#8217;ll be more satisfied, save money, and be healthier as well.</p>
<p>* When you cook, make large batches and freeze the leftovers. This way, you&#8217;ll already have meals in the freezer that you can just thaw, heat, and serve. No mess, no fuss! This is the opportune way to enjoy &#8220;fast&#8221; food at home.</p>
<p>4. Eat Slower.</p>
<p>Since the brain takes about 20 minutes to get the signal that the stomach is full, if you eat too fast you&#8217;ll pack in a lot more food than you need. When you&#8217;re still thinking you&#8217;re hungry, it&#8217;s easy to make the wrong choices about food. If you slow down while you&#8217;re eating, you&#8217;ll eat less and you&#8217;ll still feel full.</p>
<p>* Set a calming mood before sitting down for a meal. Avoid having the television on or eating as you&#8217;re rushing the kids out the door to another activity. Sitting calmly at the table will allow everyone to relax and enjoy their meal.</p>

Some of the major changes they have made over the past couple years is adding a variety of garden salads, yogurts with granola in fresh fruits. They have also gone on to change the type of oils they use in the deep fryers and change their grade of beef to that which has a lower fat content.</p>
<p>All of this is to attract the new healthier lifestyle consumer who possibly is never even eaten at a McDonald&#8217;s restaurant before. You no longer have to feel bad about venturing into a fast food restaurant because with a healthier food choices you can leave feeling good about yourself for eating one of the healthy salads.</p>
<p>On the side of the wall usually adjacent to the cash registers you will see a nutrition placard which lists all of the nutritional values of every item on the menu. You be able to see the total calories and grams of fat, carbohydrates and fat in each of the food choices. This is a good tool to use to assist you in picking the proper menu item for your dietary needs.</p>

<p>Recently I watched a documentary on curing cancer using Gerson Therapy. (A proven natural way to cure cancer and disease. Google it) It was like a revival and brought this to my mind.</p>
<p>The FDA will allow labels to say &#8220;no added MSG&#8221; as long as the MSG has been processed into the food instead of poured into it.</p>
<p>Most of us know about aspartame and MSG. But what are all those other chemicals? Our mainstream diet contains all this stuff. Some of these ingredients/chemicals are banned in other countries and many are known carcinogens, known to cause cancer.</p>
<p>Do you realize we&#8217;re talking about all highly processed foods? Where have all the whole foods gone? They&#8217;ve had all the natural nutrients removed and been enriched with pharmaceutical grade vitamins and other questionable (nice word) enhancers and preservatives.</p>
<p>Cancer&#8217;s on the increase and the medical profession never seems to find a cure. I mean a real cure! Where does all the research money go?</p>
<p>The FDA and our government really know what&#8217;s going on, yet they still allow toxic chemicals to be added to our foods. Did you ever wonder why? OK, I&#8217;ll save politics and big money for another time. Right now I&#8217;m talking about our health, yours and mine.</p>
<p>So what does one do?</p>
<p>Unfortunately for most people the answer is not an easy one to accept. Some people do become health conscious as I did when I started the macrobiotic diet for cancer. It takes a strong desire to stop what we are accustomed to eating. Plus we need the knowledge to know what we should be eating in order to gain and maintain maximum health.</p>
<p>When I began the whole foods macrobiotic lifestyle, my cancer had already started. It progressed to a stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer. It had spread internal, yet remained local, and was growing inside my mouth.</p>
<p>I continued the whole foods healthy diet attempting to slow it down and hopefully cure it. I ended up panicking and consented to all the conventional medical treatments being chemotherapy, major surgery and radiation.</p>
<p>It took all three to kill all of the cancer and I was blessed that it didn&#8217;t kill me.</p>
<p>Ohh,&#8230; if I only had begun a healthy lifestyle years before to prevent this from ever happening.</p>
<p>Truthfully I started a whole foods lifestyle when I was much younger, but drifted off as life happened.</p>
<p>I did take vitamins and other supplements and I worked out a lot at the gym. I figured that would keep me in pretty good shape.</p>
<p>I got that wrong!</p>
<p>I was feeding a disease by still shoveling in toxins!</p>
<p>First eliminate the unhealthy ingredients and replace them with nutritious whole foods and do some exercise regularly.</p>
<p>If you have a particular disease, see an alternative professional. Let them draw blood or do a urine test to find nutritional deficiencies. You may well be able to control your problem with whole foods and proper supplementation.</p>
<p>Take in some sunshine and clean fresh air.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s good to sing and laugh every day and everyone needs to have an open relationship with The Creator.</p>
<p>Hippocrates said, &#8220;Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.&#8221; That should be the essence of everyone&#8217;s approach to health.</p>
<p>Hippocrates also said, &#8220;Make a habit of two things: to help; or at least to do no harm.&#8221;</p>
<p>I seriously followed a macrobiotic diet for cancer for 8 years. I now take other whole food approaches. I maintain the best health that I can, still yet I live with long lasting side effects of conventional treatments. I would not have survived 20 years if it were not for my healthy wholefoods lifestyle.</p>

<p>Also, you need the right mental set, because if you don&#8217;t believe you will lose weight then I&#8217;m afraid that you will not. Mind over matter is really very important in the battle for weight loss.</p>
<p>You will definitely experience weight loss if you believe you will, then eat right and eliminate unhealthy foods from your diet.</p>
<p>Your doctor will tell you to maintain normal blood glucose levels and this will help prevent heart disease, so you don&#8217;t have to give up sweets entirely, just count them as part of your carbohydrate ration.</p>
<p>Actually about half of your food supply should be carbohydrates which are simply starch, sugar or fibre. Whole grain cereals are the best source of fibre together with fresh fruits and, of course, vegetables!</p>
<p>Lean meats like chicken with no skin, supplies protein and fish types like cod, salmon, sardines, mackerel, herrings and pilchards. Best cuts of beef are sirloin and pork loin chops and lamb chops are best here and don&#8217;t forget eggs, (preferably free-range and FRESH), (You can test the freshness of your eggs by simply putting them in a large jug of water. If they float they are fresh and if they sink then not so fresh) low fat cheeses and some nuts.</p>
<p>If you can arrange to have five or six small portion meals a day, this is much better than the more common three and much more suited to weight loss. Most important is to get plenty of water, but be careful of the recent warnings published about bottled water. You are probably much better off to use ordinary tap water put through a filter and it is certainly much cheaper!</p>
<p>Most people either eat a light breakfast of cereal and toast or maybe skip it totally, but this is really the most important meal of the day, especially for weight loss. The best rules are the old sayings:&#8221; &#8220;Breakfast Like a King, Lunch Like A Prince and Dine Like A Pauper&#8221;</p>
<p>This is completely sensible because eating a good breakfast gets your body going and increases your metabolism which means it will help you lose weight. Skipping breakfast all together is a big mistake if you want to achieve weight loss. Since most evening meals are not until seven or eight o&#8217;clock, if you miss a good breakfast your body has to go a long time without food and will start to conserve energy which means you will burn less calories and store more FAT! <p>The famous Endocrinologist, Deepak Chopra (hope I&#8217;ve spelt it right) makes some very good suggestions about eating habits which can affect your weight loss or otherwise, many of which I recall being taught by my own mother when I was a child.</p>

<p>Smaller meals should be taken more often throughout the day to keep the body from changing to starvation gear but the meals should be healthy and not junk foods!</p>
<p>If you eat slowly you will eat less because your body has time to let you know when it has had plenty. I was brought up during the depression years before the Second World War and although we were poor, we always had good healthy food. My father was out of work for twelve years, (NO huge benefits in those days) but nevertheless we always had plenty to eat. Yes, I knew I had plenty because whenever I asked for &#8220;seconds&#8221; my Mum would say&#8221; No, you&#8217;ve had plenty!&#8221; (apologies to Zig Ziglar)</p>
<p>Seriously though, we had an abundance of good fresh vegetables and fruit, mostly from the labours of my father and two brothers who had three allotments to cultivate and did so well with the help of the manure from the local Coop stables.</p>

<p>For Morning</p>
<p>Wake up with the sun to stay fit. Brush your teeth and massage your teeth and gums with sesame oil. After this drink a glass of warm water. Empty your bladder and bowels to release toxics and waste from the body. Massage body with warm oil (pitta:coconut, vata:sesame, kapha: almond). After 30 mins take bath. Do yoga and meditation and eat healthy breakfast.</p>

<p>Do not watch TV for a long time at night and avoid any kind of mental stress like fight or action during this time. Go to bed before 10 PM. Your sleeping time and the last meal must have the difference of at least 3 hours.</p>
