Healthy Alkaline Diet:

An alkaline foods recipe with ionized water increases the immune system, which keeps us healthy and free from sickness. Kidneys, lungs and adrenal glands require the right nutrients to maintain a proper pH balance within our bodies. An alkaline diet is required to maintain a healthy lifestyle. An alkaline diet is not expensive nor difficult to follow, because the foods used, are probably already located in everyone’s home. An alkaline diet, in different combination, is fun to eat and exactly what your body needs to maintain a proper pH balance. Some alkaline foods include fresh, organic vegetables, nuts, grains, seeds and spices.

To prepare the right alkaline menu for daily consumption would be to mix the right food combination to benefit the digestive system and the taste buds. Another selection to add to a daily diet of these food combination are to add a variety of alkaline salad ingredients, consisting of cucumbers, beets, mix in almonds, hummus, sprouts with a touch of lemon juice. Organic foods are best for the body because they contain more in minerals, vitamins, proteins, and natures own pure enzymes and amino acids.

An Ounce of Prevention – Is a Pound of Alkaline Cure:

A healthy alkaline diet is made up of 80% alkalizing foods, with 70% being more effective, if raw, and about 20% acidic foods. The human body forms too much acid build up due to stress and a poor diet that contributes to illnesses such as minor skin breakouts, depression, chronic fatigue, arthritis, ulcers, and osteoporosis. But when the body has the correct pH balance content, it is reflected in increased energy, increased vitality, a healthier skin tone, weight loss, and increased mental acuity. To keep the body balanced, it requires a proper healthy diet which includes eating alkalizing foods, and the right water to hydrate the body.

Of course, it is known that a healthy diet for a healthy life, also includes lots of water. The percentage of water in the human body for males is about 60% and 55% in the female body. But the right type of water for a healthier body is important. Alkaline or ionized water neutralizes the acidic portion for the body. Alkaline water has a sweeter flavor than regular bottled water, it improves the body’s ability to absorb many essential nutrients and helps clean our cells. Also, cooking with alkaline water improves the taste and quality of our foods.

It may seem oversimplified but the reason why people are so unhealthy is because they eat too many of the wrong types of food.

Also, you need the right mental set, because if you don’t believe you will lose weight then I’m afraid that you will not. Mind over matter is really very important in the battle for weight loss.

You will definitely experience weight loss if you believe you will, then eat right and eliminate unhealthy foods from your diet.

Your doctor will tell you to maintain normal blood glucose levels and this will help prevent heart disease, so you don’t have to give up sweets entirely, just count them as part of your carbohydrate ration.

Actually about half of your food supply should be carbohydrates which are simply starch, sugar or fibre. Whole grain cereals are the best source of fibre together with fresh fruits and, of course, vegetables!

Lean meats like chicken with no skin, supplies protein and fish types like cod, salmon, sardines, mackerel, herrings and pilchards. Best cuts of beef are sirloin and pork loin chops and lamb chops are best here and don’t forget eggs, (preferably free-range and FRESH), (You can test the freshness of your eggs by simply putting them in a large jug of water. If they float they are fresh and if they sink then not so fresh) low fat cheeses and some nuts.

If you can arrange to have five or six small portion meals a day, this is much better than the more common three and much more suited to weight loss. Most important is to get plenty of water, but be careful of the recent warnings published about bottled water. You are probably much better off to use ordinary tap water put through a filter and it is certainly much cheaper!

Most people either eat a light breakfast of cereal and toast or maybe skip it totally, but this is really the most important meal of the day, especially for weight loss. The best rules are the old sayings:” “Breakfast Like a King, Lunch Like A Prince and Dine Like A Pauper”

This is completely sensible because eating a good breakfast gets your body going and increases your metabolism which means it will help you lose weight. Skipping breakfast all together is a big mistake if you want to achieve weight loss. Since most evening meals are not until seven or eight o’clock, if you miss a good breakfast your body has to go a long time without food and will start to conserve energy which means you will burn less calories and store more FAT! So Get a Good Breakfast Every Day!

The famous Endocrinologist, Deepak Chopra (hope I’ve spelt it right) makes some very good suggestions about eating habits which can affect your weight loss or otherwise, many of which I recall being taught by my own mother when I was a child.

“Slow down whilst eating and chew every mouthful thirty two times before swallowing” Saliva is an extremely important part of the digestive system and some famous body builders advocate “drinking your food, and eating your drink” in other words ensure that everything in your mouth is well and truly mixed with saliva before you swallow it.

Also it is helpful to concentrate on your meal. No distractions like books, newspapers or magazines, radio or TV nor for that matter even conversation. Remember Mum? “Don’t speak with your mouth full, don’t stuff your mouth. Close your mouth when eating” All very good lessons to learn in the battle for weight loss.

Smaller meals should be taken more often throughout the day to keep the body from changing to starvation gear but the meals should be healthy and not junk foods!

If you eat slowly you will eat less because your body has time to let you know when it has had plenty. I was brought up during the depression years before the Second World War and although we were poor, we always had good healthy food. My father was out of work for twelve years, (NO huge benefits in those days) but nevertheless we always had plenty to eat. Yes, I knew I had plenty because whenever I asked for “seconds” my Mum would say” No, you’ve had plenty!” (apologies to Zig Ziglar)

Seriously though, we had an abundance of good fresh vegetables and fruit, mostly from the labours of my father and two brothers who had three allotments to cultivate and did so well with the help of the manure from the local Coop stables.
